A vectordatabase slaat hoogdimensionale vectoren (inbeddingen) op en maakt een snelle zoektocht naar gelijkenis mogelijk. In tegenstelling tot traditionele databases die exacte overeenkomsten vinden, vindt Qdrant semantisch vergelijkbaar items.
